These quotes are over my writing spaces on brightly colored Post-Its, both computers in my home:
"There are two ways of spreading the light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."
Edith Wharton (1862-1937), U.S. writer
"All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story or tell a story about them."
Isak Dinesen (1885-1962), Danish writer
"Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it."
Julia Child (1912-2004), U.S. chef
"There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you."
Maya Angelou (born 1928), U.S. writer and Poet Laureate
“Do or do not. There is no try.”
Yoda (born in the imagination of George Lucas)
“Seize the silliness; it’s good for the heart”.
Season Premiere “Boston Legal” September 2007
“You first become a writer by learning to love reading.”
Mitch Albom, (born 1958), U.S. writer and columnist

‘I don’t believe in writers’ block. Plumbers don’t get plumbers’ block. Why should writing be the only profession that gives a special name to the difficulty of working.’
Jane Austen
Well said. I call "writer's block" by its correct name: LAZINESS. If something doesn't flow, put it aside and work on something else. I purposely have four or five projects of varying size and topic going at any given time. Something becomes a bit stale, I set it aside and take up something else, until I get back around to the 'slow' bit. With new perspective I often find that it is anything but slow at that point.

‘A writer is a maker, not a man of action: his private life is of no concern to anybody but himself, his family and his friends.’ Brian Aldiss A person in a bookstore once became quite incensed when I wouldn't answer personal questions about my life. I told him, I was there to discuss the reason for being there, and that was NOT my autobiography.

‘Good novels are not written, they are rewritten. Great novels are diamonds mined from layered rewrites.’
Piers Paul Read
I frequently say that I am not a writer, I am a rewriter. ;D

‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’ Samuel Beckett A much more writer-ly way to put the old bromide, 'if at first you do not succeed, try, try again'.
